DISABLED WIDOW(ER)'S BENEFITS
Spouses, aged 50+, who become disabled within 7 years of their spouse’s death may be eligible for disability benefits. The deceased spouse must have had sufficient work credits under Social Security. Spouses with low income may also qualify for SSI regardless of age or work history.
